Fondation Sainte-Anne major fundraising campaign

Objective: a synthetic field for Sainte-Anne youth and the community

Lachine, Monday, April 5, 2016 — Sainte-Anne students and Dorval residents will be able to enjoy their favourite sport on a new synthetic field next year. At least that is the hope of Collège Sainte-Anne, whose Foundation just launched a one-million-dollar major fundraising campaign to provide the community with a 150 yard by 65 yard field[1].

This field, which would adjoin the Sainte-Anne Academy playground in Dorval, would be multi-functional and adapted to various sports. The 2,700 students from the three educational institutions of Collège Sainte-Anne would have access to this space, as well as Dorval residents and local sports teams.

“This space will serve several functions: In addition to being a place that celebrates physical activity and sportsmanship, it will also be a meeting place. Moreover, since wear and tear is virtually non-existent with a synthetic field, it will tolerate intensive use, allowing us to make it available in the evenings and weekends. I am therefore asking for the community’s generosity in helping us carry out this project that encourages youth, as well as the public, to be active and adopt healthy habits,” stated Ugo Cavenaghi, Executive Director of Collège Sainte-Anne.

The sports that this field will accommodate include track and field, baseball, running, lacrosse, flag football, football, golf, rugby, soccer, triathlon and Ultimate.

On March 11, the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport confirmed funding assistance of $475,000 for the field. The project will also receive funding from the City of Dorval. The total cost of the project is evaluated at three million dollars.
