Diver and Sainte-Anne graduate Vincent Riendeau meets with Sainte-Anne
students and reflects on his first Olympics

Lachine, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 — Member of the Canadian diving team at the Rio Olympics Vincent Riendeau will speak today with Sainte-Anne students. During this meeting, the 19-year-old athlete will reflect on his first Olympic Games. Vincent finished 14th in the semi-finals, narrowly missing the final.

“The Olympics were an incredible learning experience. I’m going to make sure to reproduce what I did well here and correct what didn’t go so well for my next competitions,” he said after his performance in Brazil. “The Olympic scene is huge. It’s a challenge to stay focused and ignore distractions, but I think I handled it pretty well.”

Vincent began diving at the age of 6 after a neighbour introduced him to the sport. His Olympic dream was sparked by watching Alexandre Despatie and Émilie Heymans compete in Beijing in 2008. Alexandre Despatie is one of his role models, along with Chinese diver Cao Yuan, a 2012 gold medalist. Vincent received his high school diploma from Collège Sainte-Anne in 2014.

On November 9, Vincent will meet with high school students (Elite Sports and Arts program and DéfiSports stream) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by Cegep students from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
